I am wrapping up the first week of my 30 Day Water Challenge. For the past seven days, I have drank 1 gallon of water each day. The reason I am doing this challenge is to curb many thyroid disease symptoms. The main symptoms I want some relief from are headaches, dizziness, muscle and joint pain, lack of energy, and those pesky dark circles around my eyes. Since water has the potential to help with all those symptoms, I gave it a go. You can read about the 30 Day Water Challenge and the many benefits of water here.
Week 1 Update
Has it been difficult to drink a whole gallon?
It hasn’t been as difficult to drink 1 gallon of water every day like you would think. If I keep my water bottle with me, I find I tend to drink more than a gallon a day…not much more. But if I have been running around a lot that day, I tend to drink 5 bottles of water instead of 4. I also added lemon to my infusing water bottle a couple of days, which was a nice change.
Increased bathroom breaks?
Not really. There has been some increase in the number of trip to the bathroom each day, but I haven’t been spending the majority of my day in the restroom.
This has got to be one of the best results from drinking so much water. After the first day, I noticed a change in my energy. I didn’t feel so sluggish, and my mind seemed clearer. I contributed this, at first, to getting a good night sleep. However, my energy level has continued to increase. Sunday I came down with a cold, and while I didn’t feel well, the bug didn’t take me out of the game for a couple days. Now, if you don’t have a chronic disease you probably won’t completely understand what a big deal this is. Usually, the slightest bit of illness complete depletes my energy levels. I end up having a hard time keeping my eyes open all day, and my bed calls out my name tauntingly. That wasn’t the case this time. I accomplish quite a bit this week while being sick. No nap needed.
If you have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning raise your hand. I am going to raise my hand half way. Usually, it is so difficult to wake up. But over the past couple days I have been waking up before my alarm. I don’t wake up like a Folgers commercial, but I haven’t felt a deep yearning need for just 15 more minutes. I really hope this continues to be the case.
I had one head ache this week. However, it was a stressed induced headache that came on quickly after an upsetting phone call. Other than that headache, there hasn’t been any others. The dizziness has seemed to decreases, but is not gone completely. It still shows up every once in a while. Once or twice a day dizziness is an improvement over all day, every day dizziness. I will take it.
Muscle and Joint Pain
I don’t feel like I can adequately address this symptoms because of the cold. Colds cause achy joints and muscles.
Dark Circles and Bags
I’ll let the pictures do the speaking for this one. No make up or editing. Just a clean, just showered face. However, these pictures were taken after a TERRIBLE night sleep. My Buddy Boy now has a cold and was coughing all night long. Even with the bad sleep, I don’t feel exhausted…and I don’t look AS tired as last week.
Today (1/22/2016) is the last day to enter the give away for the ‘Family Pack’ of water bottles from Refill Life. Head over to this post here to enter. You will also find a code to order the 32 oz Infusing Water Bottle for 20% off.
